Bowie Science Whizzes Gear Up for Competition Tuesday

The two Bowie middle schools may face off against one another in the Science Bowie quarterfinals if both are victorious in the early matches.

Top science students from Samuel Ogle and Benjamin Tasker middle schools in Bowie are gearing up for Prince George's County Public School's 28th annual Science Bowl.

Students from Benjamin Tasker will face off against students from Martin Luther King Jr. Middle School at 1 p.m., and students from Samule Ogle will square off against kids from G. James Gholson Middle School at 1:45 p.m.

Each team is made up of four students—three players and an alternate.

The respective winners of the two matches on Tuesday will then go head-to-head in a quarterfinal match at 2:45 p.m. The winner of quarterfinals will return on March 18 to play in the middle school semifinals and finals.

Last year, Samuel Ogle fell to Hyattsville Middle when the Hyattsville team rallied to make up a 100 point deficit.

The competitions are taped live at the PGCPS studios in the Bonnie F. Johns Educational Media Center, located in Landover. Science Bowl shows can be viewed on the school system's website at www.pgcps.org or on YouTube and will be shown on TV this fall on PGCPS Comcast channel 96 and Verizon channel 38.
