Weekend Planner for Dec. 9-12: Holiday Fun

Take the kids to meet Santa, go see a Christmas play or let us know what you're doing this weekend in Bowie by leaving a comment.

What’s on your weekend agenda? If you’re looking for some ideas, Patch has rounded up a festive list of holiday activities. There are also a few options for the Scrooges among you who are looking for a momentary escape from all the ho-ho-hoeing.

What: Saturday Fun with Santa
When/Where: 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at Why go: It’s a great chance for kids to meet with Santa away from a crowded mall setting.
Cost: Toy donation or $3

What: Sorry! Wrong Chimney! (live theater)
When/Where: 2 p.m. Sunday at , 100 White Marsh Park Dr., Bowie
Why go: This tale of a department store Santa whose wife suspects him of cheating makes for hilarious holiday entertainment.
Cost: $19 adults, $14 for seniors/under 18

What:
When/Where: 6-8 p.m. Saturday. This Annapolis parade can be viewed from a variety of places including City Dock, the Naval Academy seawall and the Spa Creek Bridge.
Why go: This annual event is fun for the whole family and features boats all decked out for the holidays.
Cost: Free

What: A Crofton Village Christmas Holiday Home Tour
When/Where: noon Sunday at 1533 Chapman Rd., Crofton
Why go: The Crofton Village Garden Club offers an opportunity to see inside several beautiful Crofton area homes, all decked out for the holidays.  The proceeds of this event will be used to support club activities "to promote and preserve the beauty of our community."  Refreshments will be served at the Chapman Farm Clubhouse.

What: FIRST Robotics Lego League Showdown
When/Where: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at , Edgewater
Why go: Watch as the robots that elementary and middle school students have built are challenged to a series of tasks. The Lego League series is set up like a sports event, so cheerleading is encouraged.
Cost: Free to spectators

What: Community Christmas Party
When/Where: 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at New Hope Chapel, Arnold
Why go: Celebrate the Christmas season with games, crafts, food, a puppet show and fun! Children of all ages are welcome.
Cost: Free

What: Key Theater presents … The Imaginary Invalid by Molière
When/Where: 7:30-9:30 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday at , 534 Hillsmere Drive, Hillsmere
Why go: Enjoy an "exceptionally silly, yet thoughtfully updated version of Molière's 17th-century comedy The Imaginary Invalid, presented by Key Theater. According to a school release, the play is "an outrageous social commentary on medicine and its practitioners."
Cost: $10

What:
When/Where: 8 a.m. Saturday at Murphy Field House, Fort Meade
Why go: The race will be a great way to burn off all those holiday calories and enjoy the fellowship of fellow runners. Participants each get a shirt and a prize will be awarded to the top male and female runners.
Cost: $10
