'Unnecessary Farce' Opens at the Bowie Playhouse

The latest production by Prince George's Little Theatre runs through Sept. 1.

If you enjoy plot twists, don't miss Unnecessary Farce presented by the Prince Georges' Little Theatre at the Bowie Playhouse at . Directed by Keith Brown and co-produced by Dan Lavanga and Jenna Jones Paradis, this is the show's premiere in the area and it runs through Sept. 1.

According to a press release, the story takes place in two cheap adjoining hotel rooms where the mayor (Ken Kienas) is involved in a video-taped embezzlement sting with his accountant, Karen Brown (Shirley Panek). Officer Eric Sheridan (Mike Larson) and his partner Billie Dwyer (Elsbeth Clay) are "determined to get their man."

Others characters include Agent Frank (Eric Small), the mayor’s security agent; Mary Meekly (Rachel Duda), the mayor’s wife; and the mysterious Todd (Jim Adams)—along with the Scottish mob and a bag-pipe playing assassin.

Friday and Saturday night performances at 8 p.m. will be held Aug. 17-18, 24-25 and 31. Matinees at 2 p.m. will be held Aug. 19 and 26, and Sept. 1. Tickets are $20, with discount tickets available at $15 for those 60 and older or 18 and younger. For more information, call 301-937-7458.
