Amici Singers Concert

CCPC is hosting a concert of The Amici Singers, a choir of women’s voices based in Biggleswade, Bedfordshire, England. They perform a wide variety of music from the 8th century to the 21st century, embracing many styles. The bulk of the Good Friday program will be sacred music. The concert is free, with good-will donations going to the Bowie Interfaith Food Pantry. The community is invited to join the Amici Singers for refreshments after the concert.

The group, conducted by Douglas Coombes,  includes 29 singers ranging in age from the early 20’s through the late 70’s.

The Amici Singers have performed in Bedfordshire, England and have also sung evensong in Norwich Cathedral and Tewkesbury Abbey. The choir has toured extensively, including trips to the U.S., singing in such places as the United Nations, Chicago, Charleston, and Washington, D.C. On their 2002 visit, the choir sang a blessing at Ground Zero in New York.
