2012 Lab Rescue Dog Walk

Lab Rescue of the Labrador Retriever Club of the Potomac will hold its annual Lab Rescue Dog Walk on Saturday, June 2, at Park Place in Annapolis. Participants can register online now at www.dogwalk2012.dojiggy.com or on-site the day of the event.

The 2012 Lab Rescue Dog Walk features a 2.25-mile walk through historic Annapolis and benefits Lab Rescue of the LRCP, a volunteer driven, non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing, vetting, fostering, and finding loving new homes for abandoned and homeless Labrador Retrievers. The first 250 participants will receive a "goodie bag" filled by event sponsors. Participants who raise $50 or more will receive with a complimentary event T-shirt.

The walk starts at 12:00 p.m., with participant registration beginning at 11:00 a.m. Parking is available at the Park Place garage at 5 Park Place for a daily rate of $5. On-site registration will take place at the registration tent across from the Park Place garage. This year's walk will feature on-site vendors, Canine Good Citizen (CGC) demonstrations and evaluations, face painting for the children, and a bake sale. There will also be an Adoption Tent featuring several Labs available for adoption from 10:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Bring your dogs and enjoy a day of fun while supporting a great cause. All breeds of dogs are welcome.

"This is our fourth year hosting the walk in Annapolis and it continues to grow each year. The pledges raised at last year's walk enabled us to rescue 100 more Labs in 2011 than we were able to rescue in 2010, and that's a huge accomplishment." said Carol Lagundo, vice president of the organization and the event coordinator. "With the help of sponsors and supporters, we hope to double attendance this year and reach our goal of raising $50,000."

Prizes will be awarded for the most pledges raised by an individual and a team, and all participants who raise $250 or more will be eligible for on-site raffle prizes.

At any given time, Lab Rescue has 50-60 loveable Labs of all ages available for adoption. All Labs brought into Lab Rescue's care are brought up-to-date on vaccinations, tested for heartworm and Lyme disease and treated if necessary, and spayed or neutered if not already. The organization also helps Labs that have been abandoned and are in desperate need of life-saving treatment.
