UPDATE: Snow, Arctic Blast Head for Prince George's

Update, 4:15 p.m.: The National Weather Service has upgraded the weather alert for Prince George's to a winter storm warning, effective 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. Tuesday, with an arctic front expected to bring below-zero wind chills back into the area. 

A winter storm warning means heavy snow and severe weather conditions are predicted. Accumulations of 4 to 6 inches are predicted.

There's a 100 percent chance of snow Tuesday, with the heaviest snow expected late morning through the afternoon on Tuesday. 

An arctic front will drop temperatures down into the teens Tuesday. North winds around 10 mph to 15 mph are also expected, with gusts up to 25 mph in the afternoon and evening hours. 

Roads are expected to be wet and slippery. According to NWS, the "combination of snow and blowing snow will reduce visibility to one-half mile at times," making traveling on roadways sometimes dangerous on Tuesday.

There's a 60 percent chance of snow before 11 p.m. Tuesday tuesday night. It will be cloudy overnight, clearing gradually with the arctic front bringing in freezing temps of 7 degrees with wind chills of 12 below predicted. 

If snow does fall, it will likely stick around for awhile. Bitterly cold temperatures will continue into Wednesday, with highs in the teens. Highs may reach the mid 20s on Thursday and Friday, though lows in the teens are predicted overnight.
