What's Open, Closed in Bowie on Thanksgiving

All City of Bowie offices will be closed on Thursday and Friday in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday. 

The Bowie Senior Center, the Kenhill Center and all historic properties will also be closed on Thursday and Friday. There will also be no trash or recycling pickup on these days. Refuse pickup will resume on the next regularly scheduled day.

The Bowie Ice Arena and the Bowie Gym are also closed on Thanksgiving in observance of the holiday, but will be open Friday. The ice arena will be open 2 p.m. to 11 p.m. Friday; and the gym will be open 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday. 

Prince George's County Public Schools will be closed Wednesday through Friday in observance of the Holiday. Prince George's County public libraries will close at 5 p.m. Wednesday and remain closed on Thursday. Libraries will be open regular hours on Friday.

All Prince George's County government offices will be closed Thursday and Friday. There will be no trash or recycling collection on Thursday, but curbside collection will resume on Friday. There will be no bulky trash pickup on Thursday or Friday. County recycling and trash drop-off locations will be closed Thursday but open regular hours on Friday. 

Metro buses will operate on a Sunday schedule on Thursday and Friday. 

If you need to grab some last minute ingredients for your Thanksgiving feast on Thursday, most local grocery stores will be open limited hours. Giant grocery stores will be open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Safeway will be open from 5 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Wegman's will be open from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Whole Foods will be open from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Trader Joe's will be closed.
