Tornado Watch Cancelled for Bowie

The watch will be in effect until 5 p.m. Monday.

Update, 2:25 p.m.: The tornado watch for Bowie and much of Prince George's County Monday afternoon, has been cancelled, according to the National Weather Service. Rain is expected to continue throughout the day and into the evening. 

Update, 12:05 p.m.: A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for Bowie and areas of Prince George's County until 12:30 p.m. Monday.

These storms may produce winds in excess of 60 mph, according to the National Weather Service.

"This is a dangerous line of storms. If you are in its path...move indoors to a sturdy building and stay away from windows," advises NWS. 

The tornado warning remains in effect for the area until 5 p.m. Monday.

Original story, 9:05 a.m.: 
A mid-west storm system responsible for snow on North Dakota and tornadoes in Nebraska, brings the possibility of tornadoes to Bowie Monday, according to the National Weather Service.

A tornado watch has been issued for all of Prince George's County until 5 p.m. Monday. A tornado watch means that weather conditions are favorable for severe thunderstorms and tornadoes, according to NWS. Residents should be alert and prepare for severe weather.
