PHOTOS: Opportunity Park Nearing Completion

The playground has been under renovations since mid September and may be open for play as soon as Friday afternoon.

Renovations began on Opportunity Park, one of the playgrounds located in Allen Pond Park, about a month ago, and work crews have been making steady progress over the course of the past few weeks.

The old play structures have been discarded and the new equipment is in place. As of Monday morning, crews had begun filling in the pour-in-place ground cover for the playground.

Ed Hall, the city of Bowie’s superintendent of parks and grounds, said they are hoping to have the playground completed by the weekend, and maybe as early as Friday afternoon.

Once the structures are stabilized, the fence will come down and the park will be open for play, said Hall.
