Photo Gallery: Memorial Day Wreath Laying Ceremony

Despite unseasonably hot temperatures yesterday, several local service organizations, veterans, politicians, and residents of Bowie came out to Veteran's Park in Old Bowie to honor and pay their respects to those who have fought and died for our country.

The Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Omaha Beach #7 hosted yesterday's Memorial Day wreath laying ceremony at Veterans Park in Old Bowie. Several local service organizations, including boy scouts, girls scouts, the volunteer fire department, the Knights of Columbus, the Masons, and many others, presented wreaths to honor those who gave extreme sacrifice in the defense of our nation.

Local politicians and other veterans and their families also withstood the unseasonal heat to take part in showing respect to their fallen comrades. The fire department supplied water for the event, with only one person fainting due to the extreme heat.
