New York Times: Winningest Online Poker Player in 2010, 21-Year-Old that Grew up in Bowie

Daniel Lawrence Cates was born in VA, but grew up in Bowie, attending Eleanor Roosevelt High School in Greenbelt.

According to The New York Times, Daniel Cates started his poker career while at in Greenbelt, going from low-stakes $5 games with who he described as his "not really friends" to now in 2010 claiming $5.5 million in earnings from poker.

The 21-year-old plays multiple online poker games simultaneously, and it's not uncommon for him to win (or lose) tens of thousands of dollars in a single sitting.
