'Masters of Mystery' Event Sparks Intrigue in Bowie

Three famous mystery authors will participate in a panel discussion Sept. 29 to benefit Holy Trinity Episcopal Church.

Things will be getting a little suspicious in Bowie this weekend when three nationally acclaimed mystery authors will take the stage at the Bowie Center for the Performing arts for a panel discussion on the genre that has made them all famous.

Master of the Mind Jeffery Deaver, Master of Thrillers John Gilstrap and Master of Intrigue James Grady will come together on Sept. 29 in support of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church as part of its year-long 300th anniversary celebration.

If those names aren’t familiar, their book titles might ring a bell. Deaver is most famous for his novel The Bone Collector, which was also made into a major motion picture starring Denzel Washington and Angelina Jolie; Gilstrap is best known for his Jonathan Grave series, which include the novels Damage Control and Threat Warning; and Grady is famous for his political intrigue novel, Six Days of the Condor, which was adapted into a 1975 motion picture, Three Days of the Condor, starring Robert Redford.

Grady is a personal friend of the event chair, Bonnie Branham, so she asked if he and some of his friend would be willing to do a lecture and a book signing to benefit the church and he agreed.

For $15, up to 700 people will be able to attend the panel discussion, readings and book signing that will follow the event. A limited number of VIP tickets, which allow private access to the authors, also are available.

Tickets can be purchased online here.
