GET OUT: County Fair, Salute to America, Local Theatre

After a long rainy week, get out and enjoy some great events in and around Bowie, as well as a local memorial for 9/11.

WHERE/WHEN: Weekends (including Thursday nights) through Sept. 10,

WHY GO: 2nd Star Productions is back with this classic comedy by Larry Shue.

WHERE/WHEN: Sept. 8-11

WHY GO: It’s the county fair! Wholesome family fun at this annual  event!     

PRICING: Ages 12 and up: $6; Ages 6-11: $ 5; Ages 5 and under: Free. SPECIAL: Sunday, Sept. 11 is "Military Appreciation Day." All active duty military and their families will be admitted to the fair for FREE.       

WHERE/WHEN: Sept. 10 and 17, Surratt House Museum

WHY GO: Follow the route Lincoln assassin John Wilkes Booth took from the Ford’s Theatre all the way into Virginia. Tour leaves from Mary Surratt’s house in Clinton, Maryland.

WHERE/WHEN: Sundays, 8 a.m. to noon, in the parking lot for Bowie High School/Bowie Performing Arts Center

WHY GO: Visit the farmers market to pick up some good stuff while supporting the community.

WHERE/WHEN: 7 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 11,

WHY/GO: Join the mayor, Bowie Fire Departments 39 and 43, and the U.S. Naval Academy Concert Band in this memorial concert for Sept 11.
