Thursday Night Could Bring First Fall Frost
The National Weather Service has issued a freeze warning for Prince George's County.
Friday morning may find local residents scraping frost from their windshields before embarking on morning commutes.
Temperatures are expected to drop into the low 30s overnight, and as a result, the National Weather Service has issued a freeze watch for Prince George's County from midnight until 10 a.m. Friday.
A freeze watch indicates that sub-freezing temperatures may kill or damage some types of vegetation. The best method to protect those plants is to wrap them in burlap, linen or newspapers before sunset, according to the website Wise Geek.
Temperatures should warm up into the mid to upper 50s Friday, and will stay there through the weekend. The nights will be cooler, but are predicted to remain frost free through Sunday.
