Flood Watch Issued for Prince George's County

The flood watch is in effect until midnight Saturday.

The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch for Bowie and much of Prince George's County, in effect Friday afternoon through midnight Saturday.

According to NWS, 2-5 inches of rain have fallen across the region since Wednesday, with the heavy to moderate rain now falling over Virginia expected to shift north and into the area Friday night. 

Local rainfall of 1-3 inches in expected, and could swell small streams and flood urban areas. 

A flood watch indicates that there is a potential for flooding based on the forecast. NWS advises anyone living in an area prone to flooding take necessary precautions.
