The National Weather Service (NWS) issued a flash flood watch Friday for Bowie and much of the state until 12:00 a.m. Saturday.

Roads may become impassable, creaks and streams may rise over their banks and large rivers may rise quickly, according to NWS.

That’s because Friday’s forecast has rain showers and thunderstorms, along with additional, slow-moving thunderstorms across the area. All of those storms could dump up to four inches of rain.

In addition to the rain from above, saturated soil from Thursday’s rain means rainwater is more likely to cause flooding in some areas.

So keep an eye on the weather, a watch means conditions may develop that lead to flooding, so we’re not there yet. But flash flooding can be very dangerous, NWS warns, so keep an eye on the forecast.
