Families Seek Community's Help in Providing 'Ultimate Gift'

Jason and Shelly Yost from Bowie, along with two other families, are asking the community to help them adopt children this holiday season.

While some families gear up to find the “ultimate present” this holiday season, three local families are looking to give a child perhaps the greatest gift of all—a family.

Jen and Don Esch, formerly of the Edgewater/Davidsonville area but now living in Bethany Beach, are looking to adopt four brothers and sisters from two separate orphanages. However, the Esch family needs help making their dream come true.

To benefit the Esch family with two others—Rob and Elaine Levit from Annapolis and Jason and Shelly Yost from Bowie—Centerpoint Church in Annapolis is hosting a fundraiser to help finance the adoption efforts called Love Gives. Additionally though, the event organizers are asking for the community’s help.

“There are two things. There is simply donating to one of the three adopting families through the website which people can do through Christmas Eve,” said organizer Donnie Reynolds. “We are also hosting a silent auction and fashion show on Saturday, Dec. 15 from 6-9 p.m.”

Proceeds gathered from the event will be split three ways among the families. Tickets are $30 per person to attend, Reynolds said.
