Bowie Community Shred Scheduled for Saturday

Expanded polystyrene and up to five large bags or file boxes of papers per person will be accepted for shredding.

Junk mail and old, unwanted papers taking up valuable space in your attic, basement or garage?

Then it's time to get shredding.

The City of Bowie is hosting a community shredding event from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday in the Bowie High School parking lot.

Bowie residents are invited to bring up to five large trash bags or file boxes filled junk mail and other papers for shredding per person, and will be permitted to watch the documents be shredded.

Expanded polystyrene will be accepted for recycling at this event. This is the type of Styrofoam, marked with a "6," that is generally used to package electronic devices. The city requests that residents ensure the Styrofoam to be shredded are free of tape and other debris. Cups, plates, egg cartons and clamshells will not be accepted for recycling.

Bowie High School is located at 15200 Annapolis Rd.
