WESTFIELD ANNAPOLIS HOSTS SUCCESSFUL KIDFEST

June 10, 2014 (Annapolis, Maryland) – Westfield Annapolis is proud to announce its successful 3rd annual KidFest, which took place Saturday and Sunday, June 7th and 8th. This year, Westfield Annapolis partnered with America’s hottest boy band, After Romeo and Disney Junior’s, The Octonaut’s for a fun-filled weekend of activities, suitable for all ages.

The weekend’s events kicked off with a special performance by After Romeo, supporting their 2014 Bully Proof Tour (BullyProofTour.com), who educated and spoke to roughly 300+ teenage girls about teen bulling and how they too, were bullied in high school. A lucky 60 girls attended a VIP meet and greet with the band after their performance. "The Anne Arundel County Police Department is appreciative of the efforts of the Westfield Annapolis Mall and their KidFest to bring awareness and education to anti-bullying," said Anne Arundel County Police Chief , Kevin Davis. "Bullying is a challenging and serious social issue and it takes everyone getting involved to address and eradicate this problem."

As in previous KidFest celebrations hosted by Westfield, the educational messages are the heart of the weekend’s entertainment. In addition to preventing teen bullying, Westfield Annapolis partnered with The Octonauts to promote World Oceans Day and continue the education of younger children in our community about carting and protecting our oceans and waterways. “We were delighted to see that over 350 families came to meet and take pictures with The Octonauts and take part in coloring activities and face painting activities, while making a pledge to protect our oceans”, stated Regional Marketing Director, Corrine Barchanowicz. Pledges included, recycling, picking up trash on the beach, not littering, saving the water and being like The Octonauts to “explore, rescue and protect!”
