Prince George’s County Library Introduces Free Technology Training
The Prince George’s County Memorial Library System introduced Treehouse, an online resource that teaches beginning-to-advanced web design, programming and business skills. Library card holders can access Treehouse for free at www.pgcmls.info/Treehouse.
“More than online training, Treehouse is a powerful workforce development tool that gives Prince George’s County library card holders a way to learn cutting-edge technology skills they can bring to their careers,” said Kathleen Teaze, director of the Prince George’s County Memorial Library System.
Treehouse teaches library customers how to build websites, create iPhone and Android apps, build web apps with Ruby on Rails and PHP, use other programming languages like HTML and CSS, account for user experience and start a business. Treehouse offers more than 1,300 video tutorials, quizzes and code challenges designed to provide an interactive and engaging experience.
“Understanding technology and being able to control it is now as fundamental as being able to read and write,” said Ryan Carson, founder and CEO of Treehouse.
