Recognized for her inspiration and passion, local resident Wilna Edji received a $500 Massage Envy Scholarship to help her acquire her Maryland State Massage Therapy license. The scholarship is part of the commitment that Massage Envy Spa in the Washington D.C, Maryland and Northern Virginia region has to supporting the education of local students and the growth of the local workforce. Edji, is the sixth student from the Baltimore School of Massage (BSOM) to receive the award.
“We are honored to award this scholarship to such a deserving professional,” says Winston Moore, Regional Director of Therapist Development at Massage Envy Spa. “And, we are proud to partner with BSOM to support their graduates who are high-level quality massage therapy professionals.”
Edji was selected by a panel of Massage Envy Spa franchise owners in the Washington D.C, Maryland and Northern Virginia region to receive the scholarship after maintaining a GPA of 3.5 for the seven and a half-month massage therapy coursework at BSOM and submitting a written essay. Throughout her training, Edji the mother-of-two, was inspired by her father who is also a massage therapist. He challenged her to follow her passion and to continue learning. She also found inspiration by caring for her premature son. Edji provided therapeutic care, which she believes, had a healing power aiding in her son’s development and improving his overall quality of life.
“When we follow our passion and our education comes together, it motivates us to help others. I am honored to receive this award and everything it represents,” said Edji, who is planning to be part of the Massage Envy team inspired by the company’s desire to be a national leader of professional, convenient and affordable massage and spa services.
