City of
Bowie Seeks
Employers for Job Fair

BOWIE, Md. The City of Bowie is hosting
a community job fair on Friday, May 2, 2014 to help connect job seekers with
employers that are hiring.

The City began hosting an annual job fair in 2011 when
the average unemployment rate in Maryland was 7.3%. Despite improvements in
state unemployment statistics, the popularity of the job fair in Bowie has increased each
year since 2011, with over 40 companies and organizations and 800 job seekers
participating in the fair in 2013.

Employers from the private sector, the federal
government, local governments, educational institutions and nonprofits are all
encouraged to apply to participate. The goal of the fair is to provide job
opportunities for people of all educational and experience levels. Past
participants have included the University of Maryland, Prince
George’s County
Government, Maryland
Live Casino, Verizon, Comcast, financial institutions, and several local
retailers.

Employers must have at least five vacancies at the time
of the fair and they must commit to staying for the duration of the job fair.
Employers with positions in information technology, finance, education, health
related fields, the public sector, retail, administrative, and customer service
are particularly being sought.

The event is free for employers and job seekers.
