Grocery Store Tours at Walmart with Tips for Buying Healthy Food on a Budget; Participants Take Home $10 in Free Groceries
Bowie Store to Feature Healthy Cooking Demos, Appearances by Sports Stars, Kids Activities and More
Shopping Matters grocery store tours will be offered at all Walmart locations in the state of Maryland. The interactive tours will be led by Walmart associates who will help local residents learn to compare unit prices, purchase fruits and vegetables on a budget, read food labels, and pick out whole grains. After the tour, participants will apply the skills they’ve learned to buy ingredients to make a healthy meal for a family of four, for under $10.
The store in Bowie will feature extra activities for the community, such as appearances by athletes and sports stars, fun kids’ games, healthy cooking demonstrations by chefs and more. These activities will run from 9:00 am – 2:00 pm.
