 CATEGORY 5 WIND ENSEMBLE PRESENTS FREE CONCERT IN BOWIE

The Category 5 Wind Ensemble will present a concert on Saturday, December 15, 2012 at 7:00 p.m.  The concert will take place at the Bowie Center for the Performing Arts, located at 15200 Annapolis Road in Bowie.  The concert is free and open to the public.  The performance is sponsored by the City of Bowie.

The program will include Festive Overture (Shostokovich), Russian Christmas Music (Reed), William Byrd Suite (Jacob), as well as other selections.

About the Category 5 Wind Ensemble:

The Category Five Wind Ensemble is a professional level wind ensemble in the Prince George’s / Anne Arundel County area. The all-volunteer ensemble consists of music teachers, free lancers, active and retired military musicians, and college music majors. The group’s name is taken from the Saffir-Simpson hurricane rating scale. Category Five storms comprise the strongest hurricanes, which are characterized by “howling winds and intense, percussive thunder.”

The Bowie Center for the Performing Arts (BCPA) is a community arts venue, located in Bowie. The BCPA is an instructional facility for the performing arts, hosting a wide range of activities and events, including theater, music, dance, lectures, films, workshops, concerts and creative arts therapy. The space has a policy of non-discrimination, being "open for appropriate use by all persons, regardless of race, color, disability, religion, gender, sexual orientation, or national origin."
