More than 45 percent of Americans make a resolution every year, according to statisticbrain.com. Some people vow to live a healthier lifestyle, others promise to spend more time with family, and many say they will try to save money.

Finer restaurants - not fast food chains - would be greatly appreciated. Also, control of crime - keeps me from patronizing certain places in the evening.

I absolutely agree with Sam. If we weren't upside on our house we would move just because of the schools and safety issues.

There's a very strong message within Sam's response. She has historically been a very big proponent and supporter of Bowie. It appears there's now a not-so-subtle change in her tone for which I do not blame nor fault her. We have 8th graders robbing other 8th graders, sex/oral sex in the middle schools (Yes, IN the schools), open drug use, parents telling administrators that their child will respect the teachers IF the teachers respect the children first (yes, heard it with my own ears at last years 9th grade BHS orientation!). Despite BHS being 'the most desired school in the county' a quick comparison of the 2011 BHS HSA results against AA County's South River (SR) paints an interesting story: 12th grade HSA passing performance scores: Algebra: BHS 80.5%, (SR: +95.5%), Biology: BHS 83.0%, (SR 90.6%), English: BHS 86.0%, (SR: 94%), Government: 87.6%, (SR: + 95.5%). BHS graduation rates: 2010 87.03% (SR 94.9%), 2011 90.22% (SR 94.15%). SAT (mean composite scores) in 2008 at BHS 1351 (SR: 1571), 2011 BHS 1333 (SR: 1590). SAT scores have gone DOWN at Bowie.

Correct the shabby road work that was completed this past summer on Annapolis Road/Rt 450. Apparently, the State of Maryland hired a company that did not have a clue about road work!

I would like to see the citizens of Bowie stop complaining and whining; be thankful for all the amenities we share that other neighboring municipalities don't have.
