Visions for Vacancies: Old Navy
What new retailer would you like to see in this recently vacated space?
The recent relocation of Old Navy from the Bowie Town Center to Waugh Chapel has left another large, vacant store front in the mall, a property owned by Simon Malls.
Simon has the property cited for use by a "big box" store. What would you like to see fill this void in Bowie Town Center? Another clothing retailer? An electronics store? A home goods our housewares store?

I would love to get a Marshalls, but I doubt we'll get one since there in one in Waugh Chapel (same with Home Goods). Anna's Linens, Trader Joe's, H&M, Forever 21, would all be welcome! We aren't getting a TJ Maxx since there is already one in Bowie. I think H&M would be an excellent choice b/c that is one store that isn't in Waugh Chapel, lol!!!

What's the status of Trader Joe's?

Trader Joes, MOM's Organic Market, or Home Goods. We need a store or two that attracts the 45 and older buyer. Remember, there are more 55+ communities being built.

I'd love to see Trader Joes open in that spot or even Whole Foods.

How long is Bowie Town Center going to survive with Waugh Chapel so close basically catering to the same customers?

And my apologies for not answering the original question. I like the idea of a Trader Joe's there. Nice Prince George's option as the other two are in Annapolis and Silver Spring. Also, there is already a MOM in Bowie.

Yes, there is already a MOMs. Good point about Waugh Chapel being so close, but remember, it isn't 2 minutes away, and there are a lot of lights/traffic to get up there. We can contemplate which stores we'd like to see (I still say I miss Bed Bath Beyond!), but in reality, do we have any say? I'd really rather not have another gym, really don't think it would be utilized (another business that would just close). Trader Joe's would be fab, but some don't want it in the area, think it would hurt MOMs.

And I didn't even think about the Safeway there. I am sure they would not be happy about that. Fair point about distance and lights but I think before Waugh Chapel, all those AA residents would shop at Bowie. I think that has dried up now.

Agreed...Now since Waugh Chapel, the AA residents most likely won't come to Bowie. For me, it really doesn't save me any time to go to Waugh Chapel unless I am on my way home and i take route 3 (I usually take 197 unless I want to make a pit stop at Marshalls or Home Goods). For the traffic and lights on the weekends, I may as well go to Annapolis.

Looks like a LA Fitness is coming to the old Bed Bath and Beyond....At least it isn't another Gussini....Don't know if I will leave Sport Fit due to the new LA Fitness coming, b/c LA Fitness doesn't have a pool. I'd rather have Bed Bath and Beyond back, but I guess that isn't happening. Still wonder what is going into Off Broadway's old location (couldn't find that).
