Video: Bowie Man Turns Passion into Dream Job

Lynford Morton created an internet group to meet with other photographers in the area, but never imagined it would be a springboard for a business venture he loves.

Out of boredom one weekend, Bowie resident and professional photographer Lynford Morton, decided he wanted to try to get some people from the area together to take photos, trade tips and enjoy photography with other enthusiasts.

He started a group on meetup.com called Shutterbug Excursions, and the interest and membership levels exceeded anything Morton expected.

He decided to take the leap of faith and start his own business, PhotoTour DC, after his experiences with the meetup group as well as feeling burnt out working as a public relations practitioner in the corporate world.

A year later, Morton's business is picking up again with the nicer weather, and he's expanding his business and finding new ways to connect with his customers and fellow shutterbugs.
