Traffic Stop in 'B' Section Leads to Arrest of Bowie Teen, Heroin and Marijuana Discovered
A 19-year-old was arrested after heroin, needles and marijuana were all found in his car after a traffic stop last week.
On March 24 around 4 p.m., the Bowie Police’s Direct Response Team made a traffic stop in the ‘B’ section at the intersection of Beaverdale and Belhurst lanes.
An investigation followed, discovering 7.5 grams of heroin—street-valued at $3,000—1 gram of marijuana, two needles and three used heroin capsules.
The driver of the car, 19-year-old John Al-Jazarwi—of the 16000 block of Artistry Place—was arrested at the scene. Jazarwi was charged with felony possession with intent to distribute, possession of heroin and marijuana and two counts of possession of paraphernalia.

This is a great example of how having our own city police force, removes drugs and criminals from our streets. Prior to the Bowie PD, very little traffic enforcement was happening in the neighborhoods. Look what a simple traffic stop uncovered.

remember, the majority of societal issues caused by drugs are due to prohibition. sure, you can send this kid to jail - and spend a chunk of cash to keep him there - but then what? what does that accomplish? if anything, he may gain even more criminal contacts and become disillusioned with society, authority, and the justice system.
treatment, jobs, and education, NOT prosecution and incarceration.

if by "entitlement" you mean basic social equality and an actual effort to help others, then yes. i view that as far more beneficial to society than running a global military hegemony and killing countless other foreign nationals.
