Thousands in Cash Stolen in Armed Robbery at Bowie Town Center Food Court
Two armed suspects entered through the rear service entrance at the Dairy Queen and Orange Julius, assaulting two employees and taking thousands in cash.
At approximately 9:10 p.m. last night Dec. 29, two black males in dark clothing wielding handguns of unknown caliber entered the combination Dairy Queen and Orange Julius in the Bowie Town Center's food court through the rear service door.
Lt. Richard Wohkittel of the Bowie Police Department said they were likely able to gain entry through the rear entrance because it was around the time the restaurant closes.
Once inside the establishment, the suspects showed employees their weapons before assaulting both of them with the handguns. Portions of the assaults were caught on tape by security cameras.
The two suspects then removed cash and coins totaling an estimated $4,000 before exiting the building, said Wohkittle.
The employees on duty were a male from Greenbelt and a female from Bowie. Emergency personnel arrived at approximately 9:32 p.m., both employees were treated by medics on the scene for minor cuts and bruises, and refused the option of going to the hospital.
Bowie's Criminal Investigation Department and Prince George's County Police Department's Robbery Unit were notified and will continue the investigation.

Lt. Wohkittel is one of the best Lieutenants there is. The City of Bowie is very fortunate to have him.
I think that Bowie should consider Mr. Wohkittel as the next Chief. He is very professional and I feel that he would do a great job for Bowie.
Just my 2 cents
