Celebrate Bowie’s history this Sunday at the 44th Annual Heritage Day.
Multiple locations will be hosting events in celebration of the city’s rich history on Sunday, May 20.
The Belair Stable at 2838 Belair Drive, one of American thoroughbred racing's most historic locations, will be open from noon to 4 p.m. with free pony rides for kids and bluegrass music by Durham Station. Kids can also churn butter and make a craft to take home, and there will be exhibits for the whole family to enjoy.
The Belair Mansion at 12207 Tulip Grove Dr. will be open for tours from noon to 4 p.m. Visitors will have a chance to look at a new exhibit that will include a 19th century tea set with an Ogle and Bowie family history.
The Bowie Railroad Museum, located at 8614 Chestnut Ave, will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will have a model train layout on display. Members of the Huntington Heritage Society will also be on hand to scan and return historic photos and to write your recollections on paper.
