Teens Robbed at Gunpoint on Excalibur Court

Several personal belongings were taken, but no injuries were reported.

Two teens were allegedly robbed at gunpoint last Friday on the 3700 block of Excalibur Court while they were taking out the trash, according to a Bowie police report.

The report states that the victims, ages 16 and 18, were taking out the trash some time after 8 p.m. on Friday when two men approached them. One of the men produced a handgun and told the victims to get down on their knees and close their eyes, according to police.

Police said the victims were then searched by the suspects, who took an EVO HTC cellphone, a Chicago Bulls fitted baseball cap, an iPhone 4 cellphone and a set of house keys before fleeing in an unknown direction.

Officers conducted a search of the area, but they were unable to locate the suspects. No injuries were reported to police as a result of the robbery.

Hey look the continued failure of Bowie's Police force. Ever since they expanded their force armed robberies have increased and I've experienced a near-mugging in broad daylight at Bowie Town Center.

How is this excusable , this area is adjacent to the Bowie Police force?! Why is it no one is questioning that the only time they make an appearance is when they need to meet ticket quotas.

This is ridiculous. It is completely disheartening to see a once decent neighborhood fall to crime like this.

They'd rather focus on drug violations over violent crime. More drug arrests = more state/federal funding. Combatting real crime doesn't pay.
