Suspects Drive Van Into Store in Failed Robbery Attempt

An unknown number of suspects allegedly attempted to steal merchandise from Last Stop in Bowie after crashing into the retailer, police said.

An unknown number of suspects drove an unmarked van into the the front glass doors of Last Stop on Emerald Way in Bowie Town Center on Wednesday in what police are calling an attempted robbery.

A Bowie police report states that after the suspects drove through the front doors, they attempted to steal jackets that were secured inside the store with heavy-duty chains, but were unable to remove them.

The suspects then attempted to flee the store in the van, which proved to be inoperable due to front end damage from the crash, according to the report.

After being unable to move the van, police said the suspects fled the store in an unidentified waiting vehicle in an unknown direction. Police canvassed the area, but were unable to locate the suspects. No injuries were reported and it is unknown if any merchandise was stolen, according to the police report.

I'm very thankful that the teens who work there, including my child, were not inside at the time of incident. In addition, kudos to the employees who did their job well as the suspects were unable to obtain what I was told were very expensive Norface jackets.
