Speak Out: How Do You Beat the Summertime Heat?

Patch wants to know how you keep it cool on steamy days.

According to The Weather Channel, the next two days will be among the hottest Bowie has seen so far this summer season with temperatures in the mid-to-upper 90s. What are you doing to beat the heat? Trips to your community pool? Popsicles in the afternoon? Are you taking your coffee or tea iced? Maybe you’re cooking out on the grill to keep the house cool.

Tell us in the comments how you plan to stay cool as the weather heats up.

Being a heating & cooling contractor I thought I’d share a few tips on staying cool on hot days.

To help produce a comfortable breeze or “wind-chill” that cools your skin, your ceiling fan blades should rotate in a reverse or counter clockwise motion.

The air movement has the same comfortable effect as when you fan yourself with a magazine to get relief from hot, stifling air.

If you take your garden hose and gently rinse the outside of your AC unit coils, you can lower the air temperature coming from your registers by 10+ degrees.

Warm regards,
