Search is On for 'Voice of Bowie'

Auditions will be held on Feb. 25 to sing or be a stage announcer at city-sponsored events.

If you think you can sing the national anthem better than Steven Tyler did before last month's Ravens playoff game, mark your calendar for Feb. 25.

The city of Bowie will host open auditions for individuals or groups to perform "The Star-Spangled Banner" at local events. The auditions will be held starting at 10 a.m. on Feb. 25 in the studio at the Kenhill Center.

For inspiration (or to hear how not to sing), see Tyler's national anthem performance on YouTube.

In addition, the city is searching for a stage announcer to be the "Voice of Bowie" for events such as the Memorial Day Parade, Bowiefest, 4th of July and the International Festival. The auditions will be held starting at 12:30 p.m. on Feb. 25 in the studio at the Kenhill Center.

Contact Matt Corley, special events coordinator, at 301-809-3078 or mcorley@cityofbowie.org to schedule an audition.
