State and local officials celebrate the grand opening of the Mitchellville South Neighborhood Park Playground, the Prince George’s County Department of Parks and Recreation’s first park to be fully accessible to children of all abilities. A partnership between Prince George’s Parks, the Prince George’s County Board of Education, the Mark Norman Memorial Fund and the C. Elizabeth Rieg Regional School, the park took nearly four years to be realized. It is adjacent to C. Elizabeth Rieg and will be used by the children at that school daily, as well as those enrolled the Prince George’s Park’s therapeutic recreation program and neighborhood children. Check back with Patch this weekend for a photo gallery of the new park. Fully story to come on Monday.
