It baffles me every time I read of a story of suicide by such a young person?He only lived twenty years of his life?He had so much more yet to come.Not entertaining the thought of a future and the way things change in life.How can they get so focused in the moment to take such a drastic action? I feel for his parents for losing a child this manner. I can't begin to comprehend it.My deepest sympathies

Several students committed suicide at my small midwestern school during my tenure there. The only hope is for those closest to these kids to reach out. .. to the students and to services already available to students on campus.

How can such a young person who had his whole life ahead of him do such an desperate act? It makes me wonder what drives people to do desperate acts. To reach out is 100% the answer. I believe most people are ashamed or not willing to reach out. To the family, may you find some peace.

Young kids commit suicide because they don't have the life experience needed that would tell them that things always get better. If in their eyes their 20 years of life have been difficult, they think that the remaining 60 years will be just as bad.

Because they are so coddled and not allowed to see and hear the crappy things that go on in this world. You give them video games to occupy them. When life doesn't turn out to be a video game and reality of the "real world" comes into view they have no coping skills. They can't push a button and turn it off. Turn on the world news at night and dicuss the problems of the world with them. Life is hard they need to be taught comnon sense..no one is born with it. This is happening every minute. It's easier to take yourself out than to deal with it.

Alot pf parents think the same old think. I am going to give my kid things that I never had. They don't now the meaning of earning things that they want. They expect parents to give them whatever they want because the parents have a job. I've heard this statement.

There are dozens of young people growing up in less than middle class homes, in the inner city, without the opportunities that this young college student had. Death is all around them and has been since they were children. Still they learn to cope with the senseless violence that's been imposed on them and perservere....striving and searching for a better day....a better life.....and a better environment. While I sympathize with this young man's family and consider the futility of his death, all too many victims of our society don't garner the sympathy expressed in these comments. Just a thought.......ALL lives are prescious! Is it because we can see the promise in his life, while we ignore the promise and potential of the economically disadvantaged? Just a thought!!

It is sad but unfornuately if someone does ultimately want to die anything friends or family say wont make a difference.Even if you get them committed or beg and plead and try to make them feel guilty with you have a lot to live for and we love you etc...If the person wants to die because the pain is too much they will find away...Don't mean to offend. RIP
