Lace Up to Help the Homeless
The city of Bowie joined several non-profits in sponsoring the 2012 Prince George's Cares Help the Homeless Walk.
Help the homeless while helping your heart by participating in the Prince George’s Cares Help the Homeless Walk on Sept. 22 at Allen Pond Park in Bowie.
The city of Bowie and several nonprofits have come together to sponsor the event, which will feature a keynote address by County Executive Rushern Baker, music, refreshments provided by Wegman’s and free basketballs distributed by the Washington Wizards Cheerleaders.
The walk is scheduled from 9:30 a.m to 1 p.m. Registration fees for the race are $30 for adults 26-years and older and $20 for youth and young adults ages 25 and under. Runners can register for the walk in advance online here. Businesses wishing to contribute can also do so via the website to sponsor school-aged children who want to participate in the walk.
Bowie’s nonprofit event co-sponsors include Community Crisis Services, Inc. (CCSI), United Communities Against Poverty (UCAP) and Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Washington.
