Update - 6:34 p.m. - A tornado watch has been issued for Prince George's County, as well as Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Calvert, Carrol, Charles and Harford counties. The watch is in effect until 2 a.m.

A wind advisory is also in effect through 6 a.m. on Thursday morning. Winds of 25 to 35 mph, with gusts of 45 to 50 mph, are predicted.

Additionally, a flash flood watch is in effect through the evening. 

Original article - A strong cold front coming through the area is bringing the risk of heavy rains, gusting winds and flash floods, according to The National Weather Service (NWS).

The agency is predicting a 90 percent chance of rain in Prince George's County Wednesday night, and possibly thunderstorms. Temperatures will drop to the low 40s and the weather will turn breezy in the afternoon with wind gusts up to 40 mph.

Later in the evening, wind gusts may reach up to 50 mph, a strength that can fell tree limbs and cause power outages. Rain accumulation could be from one to three inches and is expected to fall within a very short period of time, causing NWS to issue a flash flood watch for the area through 6 a.m. Thursday.
