Get Out: Movies on the Lawn, Free Corn Roast, and More
A few fun events happening in Bowie this weekend.
Bowie residents have four chances this weekend to catch the Annapolis Shakespeare Company’s production of The Comedy of Errors. Shows are at 8 p.m. on Thursday, Friday and Saturday at the Bowie Playhouse, with a 2 p.m. show on Saturday. Tickets are $15 for general admission and $12 for students and seniors.
Local theater buffs also can check out the Prince George’s Summer Teen Theatre’s production 30 Reasons Not to Be in a Play at the Charis Center for the Arts this weekend, with shows at 7p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and a show at 2 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $10, and $8 for seniors and kids 12 and under.
More of a movie buff? Grace Lutheran Church is holding a free Movie on the Lawn at 7:30 p.m. Friday showing Star Wars IV: A New Hope. They also will have concessions and a moon bounce for the kids.
Runners can lace up for the Bowie Baysox Charity 5K and Fun Run at Prince George’s Stadium on Sunday. The race starts at 8 a.m. and on site registration will be available for $30.
The Bowie Farmers Market is happening as usual from 8 a.m. to noon on Sunday at Bowie High School, but this weekend will feature a corn roast. From 10 a.m. to noon, all comers will be treated to a free ear of hot, buttered corn, compliments of the Bowie Farmers Market.
Bowie residents can close out the weekend with the ongoing free Sunday Sunset Concert Series at Allen Pond Park at 7 p.m. on Sunday. This week will feature the classic rockers 40 Dollar Fine.
