Community College Named Military Friendly School
The school was awarded for making civilian life easy for active military personnel.
Prince George's Community College in Upper Marlboro has been named a military friendly school by G.I. Jobs, a magazine that documents military personnel transitioning into civilian life.
The list of military friendly schools honors the top 20 percent of colleges, universities and trade schools that are doing the most to embrace America’s military service members and veterans as students, according to community college information.
“It is always an honor to be recognized for our efforts to transform the lives of our students, and in this case, to be spotlighted for the many ways the college goes the extra mile to support military service members and veterans,” Charlene M. Dukes, president of Prince George’s Community College, said in a statement.
The military friendly schools list was compiled through research and a data driven survey of more than 8,000 schools nationwide, according to a press release.
A full story and detailed list of military friendly schools will be highlighted in the annual Guide to Military Friendly Schools and on a poster, both of which will be distributed to active and former military personnel in early October.
The full list can be found at www.militaryfriendlyschools.com.

Well, the college has come a long way from the Vietnam era when my husband had to change out of his uniform into civilian clothes before attending classes for fear of harassment by students on campus. Nice to know they are more appreciative of the military
