The National Weather Service has issued an excessive heat warning for Friday in Prince George's County and the rest of the D.C. metro region.

With the temperature soaring to 103 degrees, there's also a code red alert, because it could feel like it's 114 degrees.

The warning will remain in effect from noon to 10 p.m.

This weather is dangerous especially for children, the elderly and pets.

NWS suggests that folks remain indoors in an air-conditioned space or go to a local cooling center. Residents should also stay hydrated and reschedule exercise or other strenuous activity to the early morning or late evening hours.
