Car Crashes into AT&T Store at Bowie Town Center

Damage to the store was minor and the driver has been transported to the hospital, according to officials.

A 30-year-old woman was transported to the hospital Monday, May 14 after crashing her vehicle into the AT&T store in the Bowie Town Center, according to Bowie Chief of Police John Nesky.

According to the police reports, the driver was attempting to park her Mercedes in front of the store when the floor mat pushed the accelerator down, causing the vehicle move foward and strike a light pole and then the building.

The building was damaged slightly but not structurally and the driver was transported to the hospital for minor injuries, Nesky said.

Minor injuries, slight damage to the store. This is breaking news, really? There were several commercial armed robberies in the Bowie area this weekend, but no mention of those.

I was in the store when this happened, the female driver was very shook up and I ran over to Starbucks and was able to get her a water and when i asked what happened she said the car wouldn't stop. Since the door to the car was open I saw that the floor mat was on the accelerator and I pointed that out to her before I left.

I must say that she should thank the Lord Jesus that no one was walking in between her car and the store. She didn't hurt anyone and hopefully her injuries are very minor. I can imagine that to be a very scary incident but she is tremendously blessed!
