Horace McDade, of Bowie, pleaded guilty in March. McDade and another former Metro employee, John V. Haile of Woodbridge, VA, then used the money to buy a significant amount of instant lottery tickets, according to FOX45 Baltimore.

The men could receive up to three years for their roles in the theft. They will face a judge today for sentencing.

According to court papers, Haile said he has been treated for a gambling addiction, the news station reported.
