Bowie Man Charged with Drug Possession in Edgewater

An Anne Arundel County police officer arrested a Bowie man and two teens after a strong marijuana odor emanated from their car, according to police.

Police arrested an adult from Bowie and two juveniles from Prince George’s County in Edgewater on Friday on drug-related charges, according to a statement.

Arrested was Daniel Roberto Acevedo, 18, of the 2900 block of November Court in Bowie, charged with possession with intent to distribute, possession of paraphernalia and possession of a controlled dangerous substance.

Friday evening an officer checked an occupied Ford Mustang stopped in the area of Hillside Drive and East Central Avenue in Edgewater. As the officer approached the car, “an overwhelming smell of suspected marijuana” emanated from the vehicle, police said.

Police searched the vehicle and found 80.4 grams of marijuana with a street value of about $804, drug paraphernalia, a BB gun and $180 in cash.

After searching the Mustang, the officer arrested Acevedo, a 16-year-old boy and a 17-year-old boy, police said.

What a ridiculous waste of resources and a violation of (what should ideally be) personal liberties. How will AA County police get their money when it's legalized? Focus on actual crime. If you want to know where the truly dangerous drug is, look no further than your corner liquor store.
