2nd Annual Christmas Toy Drive

Christmas Toy Drive Aims To Bring Joy To Children’s Holiday Season

COLLEGE PARK, Md., December 17, 2012 – R.O.Y.A.L. alongside Dior Ginyard will be hosting its 2nd Annual Christmas Toy Drive in the Washington Metro Area from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. on December 23, 2012.

Over the past couple years we have noticed an upward trend in children and adolescent single mothers being admitted into foster homes. Although we may not be able to positively affect this inclination, we decided that we would make an effort to bring joy to these children during the holiday season. In 2011, we partnered with St.Anne’s Infant and Maternity Home to hold our very first Christmas Toy Drive, where we received an overwhelming response from people interested in donating toys. Thru the toy drive, we were able to surprise the children of St.Anne’s Infant and Maternity Home with over 200 toys.

This year, we are aiming to have the same type of positive results. On Sunday, December 23, between the hours of 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., are doors will be open to all those who would like to donate unused and wrapped toys, with food and drinks provided. All toys will be donated to the children of St.Anne’s Infant and Maternity Home in Hyattsville, Md.

R.O.Y.A.L. is an advocacy group made up of six female students, Taryn Pope (University of Maryland), Erica Baynes (Bowie State University), Kacie Smith (Delaware State), Jewel Brooks (Lincoln University), Sharae Hughes (University of Maryland) and Brittney Ferrell (University of Maryland, University College, who have pledged to perform good deeds all throughout the Washington Metro Area. Dior Ginyard received his bachelor’s degree in public relations at Bowie State University, and is currently pursuing his master’s degree in marketing at University of Maryland, University College. Dior has performed random acts of kindness all across the Washington Metro Area, including donating 45 trick or treat buckets to children at St. Anne’s Infant and Maternity Home.
